ATM: ATSPAR III Awards Campus Paper Advisers

The Association of Tertiary School Paper Advisers of Region III (ATSPAR III) Inc. awards the 2022 Campus Journalism Advocate Awards at CHED Central Luzon Regional Office III today, July 15, 2022.

The said activity is attended by campus paper advisers, the awardees, and the CHED Central Luzon Regional Office personnel headed by Regional Director Dr. Leonida B. Sigua-Calagui and the officers of the Association led by Prof. Rizalde M. Carpio, the President.

Dr. Calagui in her Inspirational Message stressed to the tertiary school paper advisers, to continue to mold and inspire our campus journalists as “vanguards and watchdogs of the public interest, for the greater good of our people.” She also advises all “to work together, and pool our resources together, so that we can continuously build an organization as big as CHED that is more responsive, more responsible, more relevant and attuned to the demands and complexities of our present age. With our united fronts, we can build a much better, nobler and more prosperous Philippines,” she added.

The following are the awardees: [Platinum Awardees] Prof. Normita M. Lugtu of Bataan Peninsula State University-Balanga Campus, Dr. Flora G. Canare of Bataan Peninsul State University-Main Campus, Prof. Jenifer T. Flores of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology and Dr. Gladie Natherine G. Cabanizas of Tarlac State Univerity; [Gold Awardees] Dr. Romulo B. Mercado, Jr. of Bulacan State University, Prof. Rizalde M. Capio of Republic Central Colleges and Dr. Glenn M. Calaguas of Pampanga State Agricultural University; [Silver Awardees] Prof. Cecilia C. Garson of President Ramon Magsaysay State University and Asst. Prof. Dexter Andrew O. Manalo of Pampanga State Agricultural University; and [Bronze Awardees] Mr. Darwin M. Andres of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, Mrs. Antonia B. Fernandez and Dr. Chona M. Navarro of Don Honorio Ventura State University-Main Campus, respectively.

Dr. Romulo B. Mercado, Jr., Prof. Normita M. Lugtu, Dr. Felocia M. Alegado, Dr. Flora G. Canare and Dr. Glenn M. Calaguas are also recognized as past presidents of the Association.

In closing, Ms. Lora L. Yusi, Chief Education Program Specialist, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the officers and challenged them not only to be an advocate of truth, justice and fair play, but also to continue to co-exist with stakeholders to become more responsive and relevant.
